A group of professors and college officials received their first glimpse inside of the Center for Science and Business last week. Here are some photos of their tour.

The final steel beam was lowered into place April 26. The beam was available outside the construction sight for students, faculty and staff to sign. The beam can be seen here inside the new building.

April Construction

The green material that is being applied here is a air and water vapor barrier to keep moisture out of the building.

The new building will be 61 feet tall from the first floor.

The gray “fuzzy stuff” on the beams is cementious non-asbestos fibrous fireproofing and the silver “icicles that are hanging down from the floors are metal hangers to support the mechanical air ductwork.

Work is almost complete on the new sewer system.

Bulldozers and a scraper are leveling the field in front of the Huff Center.

The dirt is being moved next to the admissions building for the time being.

Heavy equipment arrives

All the trees and shrub have been removed and heavy equipment now sits in their place.

A fence has also been placed around the perimeter of where the new Center for Science and Business will sit. The admissions parking lot is now closed. Visitors should park in the lot on the west side of the building. Monmouth employees should continue parking on 6th street and Broadway.
